+ Peace

If you are in the St. Paul, Minnesota area, (more specifically Saint Anthony Park) and want to get involved with Peace, progressive politics, doing good for the environment or just find some great links to pertinent articles about the above, check out ParkPeace.

Even if you aren't in the neighborhood, the World Wide Web keeps us with like minds closer together. A wealth of information! The site is run by my sister Karen and she does a great job of keeping it fresh and updated. Rumor has it there may even be a PeaceBlog in the near future. I'll let you know when that happens.

The site's vision and mission statement says it all:
We work for peace and freedom. Because war and violence destroys lives, liberties, and livelihoods, we choose to work for peace. We choose non-violent alternatives. Given this choice, we seek:
• To deepen our understanding of the constitutional roots of democracy: informed and active participation, freedom of speech, right of peaceful assembly, right of petition.
• To understand the causes of conflicts in general and the current conflicts in particular.
• To understand – and to act to heal – the consequences of war and violence to societies and individuals.
• To educate ourselves and others about the causes of war and strategies for peace.
• To act directly and non-violently in accordance with our understanding of causes of war and strategies for peace.
• To encourage others, in our community and beyond, to join in non-violent efforts toward a culture of peace.
• To work for ethical and constitutional political leadership.

Thanks Karen for doing your part!
