+ Tomes

Having become a new parent almost 14 months ago, I have found that my reading time has diminished. I'm not talking about magazines and the snippet stuff I read throughout the day online, I'm referring more to the nice, lengthy tomes that can really take you away. I try very hard to read these books but they take much longer to get through. I find time to read a few pages at a time over my early morning breakfast (I get no newspaper) and maybe at night in bed, but that just puts me to sleep.

The last book I read and enjoyed was The DaVinci Code and I am currently at the start of Skeletons of the Zahara, a true survival story, like Into Thin Air about the Everest tragedy, The Endurance about Shackleton's harrowing South Pole experience and Touching the Void about two mountain climbers.

I also enjoy espionage thrillers, ten of which are listed here by a Seattle librarian who is an author of a book of recommended reading. The truer, the better.

What are some other must reads? I'm pretty partial to Koontz, Grisham and King. Any other comparable authors I need to know about? Do share.
