+ Valentines

To my wife, K., Happy Valentine's Day! Can you believe this is our fifth Valentine's Day together? We've come a long way from that horse back riding gift you surprised me with. Remember? Valentines was on a Tuesday or sometime early in the week, and think I bought a combination rose bouquet of 3 yellow roses for "I like you", 3 purplish roses because purple is your favorite color and 3 red roses to tell you "I love you".

You told me your 'gift' to me couldn't be presented until the following Saturday and you were very good at keeping your secret. You told me to plan for the whole day/night because it was going to be a long road trip. I drove and you told me where to go, all the way to the stables on a ranch way out in southwest Colorado. That was the most unique, thoughtful and fun gift anyone had ever given me.

Since that day, we've been through a lot of things together, from my first real vacation to California, my dad passing away, becoming engaged, buying a house together, September 11, and three weeks after that our wedding. We've weathered unemployment and financial instability together. And now, we have a 14-month old, precious little boy who couldn't be more perfect.

Thank you for being such a wonderful friend, confident, wife, lover and mother of my child. You are an answered prayer and the best thing to happen to me.

I love you!

M.
