- Bonds

San Francisco Giants "slugger" Big Baby Barry Bonds (4B) is saying that because of 3 minor knee surgeries in the past 5 weeks, he may miss half the season, and went so far as to hint that it might be the entire baseball season. He's tired. He's beaten.

His extended sob story interview with reporters outside the Giants' spring training facility in Arizona was a joke, an attempt to deflect his obvious, er, alleged, steriod use, and his subsequent weaning off of them. Sitting with his son, he is setting up the perfect scenario, er, excuses for himself when he is unable to perform at the 50-60 homeruns a year pace fans have come to expect.

By not being at top-tier playing level while he rehabs, he can explain away his weight loss, his drop in ability and even his homerun numbers dropping. If he doesn't get the homeruns needed to pass Babe Ruth (11) or Hank Aaron (52) this year, he can say he didn't have a full year or his strength was zapped by the rehab. It's the perfect way for him to get off the alleged 'roids and explain away everything else in the meantime.
