It has been awhile, yes. I was debating, really, the value of blogs when I started this and it is work to keep a blog going live and fresh. The problem is getting others to see this value as well. I have a brother who sends out emails and articles about topical events covering sports and politics and everything in between, and a sister who does as well but on a smaller scale. She, however, has her own website (see January 18, 2005 entry) and I think she should have a blog as well to discuss the peace topics she covers.
It's one thing to send out emails and be a part of a Listserv and respond to 'all' in the emails, but that's hard to track and reference, and certain email inboxes have size limits. One of the things I enjoy about reading other blogs is reading all the responses from everyone. The dialog can take twists and turns and get hot and heavy and it's good entertainment, as well as a great way to take on differing viewpoints.
I want to consider all things. And I want others to chime in. I think it's human nature to have opinions and also human nature to want to know what others have to say about your opinions. I have a curiosity about all things and I am curious to know how others deal with situations I find myself in. As a professional in the workplace in this economy; as a new parent experiencing new and wonderful things every day; as a rowdy sports fan who can talk smack with the best of them.
Blogs let people in and share.
